November 9, 2024 is China's 33rd National Fire Prevention Day, and this year's fire safety theme is "Fire protection for all, life first". In order to further strengthen the safety management of international student dormitories, eliminate all kinds of safety risks, improve the safety awareness of international students and the ability to prevent and save themselves, and create a healthy, harmonious, clean and safe learning and living environment, the joint security Department of International Education School carried out a special fire safety and health inspection on No.10 and No.15 international student dormitories on the afternoon of November 8.
A joint inspection group composed of Wang Zhengjun, Vice Dean of the School of International Education, Zhu Yajie, Li Jiaqi, international student counselors, and fire safety patrol members of the Security Department, together with international student volunteers, went into the international student apartment and carried out fire safety and health inspections on the hallways and public kitchens on each floor of the dormitory. The patrol members of the Security Department lead the cadres to focus on checking whether the safety exits and evacuation channels are smooth, whether the infrastructure such as fire extinguishers are fully equipped, intact and effective, and give tips and explanations on the escape exit settings, kitchen electrical power supply, and the use of fire alarms, so as to make every effort to find and prevent safety risks early.
In the process of inspection, the international student counselors took this as an opportunity to "grow together" under the "same field", learn the knowledge of fire self-prevention and self-rescue together with the students, and conduct face-to-face communication with the students on dormitory hygiene, fire safety and life adaptation, and give timely guidance and help.
The successful implementation of the joint special inspection has won the cooperation support and high praise from the school Security Department, Logistics Support Department and other departments as well as international students. In the future, IES will further keep close contact with relevant departments, promote the institutionalization of fire safety and dormitory management, normalize inspection work, timely feedback, rectification and improvement, build a strong safety line, and promote the cultivation of high-quality international talents with high satisfaction of international student dormitory environment.
