Students who come to study at the university for over half a year shall apply for an X1 visa before coming to China. Those who study for a term or less shall apply for an X2 visa.


All international students who need to live outside of the campus shall go to the local police station applying for the Certificate of Temporary Residence off Campus within 24 hours upon residence.


International students with an X1 visa shall apply for the Residence Permit for Foreigners within 30 days after entering China. Those with an X2 visa can stay in China without applying for the Residence Permit for Foreigners within the time limit of the visa.


For the convenience of freshmen, the teacher in charge of international students shall organize students to go through formalities of residence permit application within the prescribed time of registration.


Students who come to school after the prescribed time of registration shall bring the following documents on your own to the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau going through formalities of residence permit application:


(a) Visa and Residence Permit Application Form signed by the teacher in charge with one recently taken two-inch, half-length, bareheaded and full face photo on it;


(b) A copy of a valid passport (ordinary passport) and a visa;


(c) A Registration Form of Temporary Residence (Students who live outside of the campus must provide a Registration Form for International Students in Wuhan Living off the Campus with the seal of the local police station);


(d) Certificate with the official seal of the IES of ZUEL


(e) Admission Notice of ZUEL


(f) The original copy of The International Students Application Entry Visa to China Form (the yellow page) (JW201 and JW202 Form for short);


(g) Students aged over 18 and those who apply for residence permit for the first time are required to provide a Health Certificate issued by the International Travel Healthcare Center of Hubei Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau;


(h) Records of Residence Conversation


(i) Two 2-inch bareheaded photos


International students must leave China before the residence permit expires and those who want to continue their study shall have their residence permit extended before expiration;


Applicants shall complete the alteration formalities at the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau within 10 days if the content of the residence permit changes, or else the public security organs will impose punishment in accordance with the relevant provisions.

    

       The applicant shall complete the transfer formalities at the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Public Security Bureau of the ingoing place or outgoing place within 10 days if the residence permit transfer is needed.


International students shall complete relevant formalities at the office of the teacher in charge who will provide a Transfer Certificate if they transfer to a school in another city. And they must apply for a new residence permit at the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Public Security Bureau of the ingoing place or its affiliates within 10 days (and within the validity of residence permit) after arrival.


Family members of international students can apply for an S visa at Chinese embassies (or consulates) in their countries and come to accompany them on the evidence of the invitation given by the accepted university. Accompanying family members, with an official letter of the accepted university, can apply for a visa extension at the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau. Accompanying family members can only stay in China within the validity of residence permit of international students.


Generally, it will take 15 workdays for the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau to go through formalities such as extension, alteration, reentry visa and transfer. An expedited processing will be provided under special circumstances.


All kinds of visas, certificates may not be altered, damaged, or the offenders will be punished. Passport and residence permit should be well kept, and students shall promptly report to the teacher in charge of the IES in case of loss. After this, they shall report the loss to the local police station with school certificate, and then go to replace a Certificate of Loss at the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau on the evidence of the Certificate issued by the local police station. Then they can apply for a new passport at the embassy (or consulate) in China. Finally, they can apply for a new residence permit with the new passport and the certificate issued by the Office of International Students Affairs at Donghu New &High-tech Industrial Development Zone Branch of the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau.


International students should regularly check their visas or residence permits to avoid overstaying. Students with a visa or a residence permit expired will be educated by the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau. Generally the overdue fine is 500 RMB a day and the maximum fine is 10000 RMB.
